What does the Bible have to say about homosexual activity?
In this 1-pager, I summarize the opinion that the Bible itself does not condemn homosexuality.
Many Christians today condemn homosexuality because of what they believe the Bible says about it. I personally was raised to hold this position. Through much study, I came to believe that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality or queerness.
This 1-pager not an argument that the Bible supports homosexuality, but simply that it does not condemn nor even speak of committed homosexual unions directly. The authors of the Bible were not discussing what we see today in equitable, consensual, and self-giving homosexual relationships.
I believe the Bible has a lot to say on the topic of sexual ethics, and in this way also speaks to the ethics of homosexual activity — yet this rich and important subject is not deeply explored in this 1-pager.
